“Word Disassociation”

Last year, the Plymouth Independent Film Festival (PIFF) honored pioneer and documentarian Richard Leacock, whose career as a filmmaker actually began with CANARY ISLAND BANANAS, a film he made when he was 14 years old. Leacock’s passion for filmmaking never left him. His career evolved and he became an international legend in documentary filmmaking. This summer, PIFF is offering young filmmakers a chance to take their first steps to reach their dreams.

If you are a future Ricky Leacock this may be the chance to have your film screened along with regional, national, and international filmmakers during the Film Festival which runs from July 18 - July 22 in various locations throughout Plymouth.

A jury will select the films to be shown during PIFF. Expert judges will award prizes for categories including Best Film, which will be featured in the PIFF Shorts program during the Festival. All PIFF Future Filmmaker Felix Award winners are then eligible to enter into the PIFF International Student Short Competition for a Grand Prize.

The Future Filmmakers Felix Awards Night will be a glamorous Hollywood-esque affair, so dust off your campy gown or Brad-worthy outfit to attend as either an entrant or as an enthusiastic audience member. This event is a reincarnation of the old South Shore Video Contest. It is sponsored by the Friends of the Duxbury Free Library, The Plymouth Independent Film Festival, and Comcast.
